Former Mississippi Public Service Commissioner Brent Bailey Joins Efficient Power & Light

April 1, 2024

Bailey will serve as Vice President of Operations for Mississippi’s Leading Provider of Energy Efficiency Services

Brandon, MS (April 1, 2024)— Brent Bailey, former Mississippi Public Service Commissioner, has joined Efficient Power & Light (EPL) as the Vice President of Operations.  In this role, Bailey will utilize his many years of experience and expertise in advancing clean energy technology policy, programs and practices and his most recent role as a utility regulator to enhance energy saving opportunities for business, industry and residential customers.

Formed in 2018, EPL’s team of experts guides their clients towards maximizing energy efficiency measures, leveraging incentive programs to make upgrades even more cost effective, and seeing immediate savings on energy bills.  EPL is on a growth trajectory and is exploring new markets and services that will make clean energy and energy efficiency accessible for all.

“Having known and admired Brent for many years and witnessing his unwavering dedication to energy efficiency, I can’t imagine a more fitting leader for our company,” said Chase Wolverton EPL’s Founder and President.  “As we expand our presence across the region in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors, Brent has stood out as a true advocate, not just in Mississippi but also on a national level as a respected authority.”

“The demand for energy efficiency and clean energy is rapidly increasing throughout the Southeast, and Brent will spearhead our efforts to engage with utility executives, policymakers, workforce development initiatives and customer engagement.  His leadership will ensure that we utilize the latest technologies, guiding our vision from commercial, industrial and residential efficiency to the implementation of advanced energy solutions.  We are thrilled to welcome Brent to the EPL family, and we look forward to the valuable contributions he will make in advancing our mission,” Wolverton concluded.

Bailey was a member of the Mississippi Public Service Commission from 2020 to 2024 and was known for his transparency and efforts to educate citizens about the work of the Commission through his weekly newsletters, of which 201 consecutive editions were published during his term.  Bailey was a member of numerous committees and work groups for the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and a member

of the Organization of MISO States Board of Directors.  Prior to his term as Commissioner, he spent 14 years working with a broad cross-section of Mississippians and Southeastern U.S. stakeholders to mobilize support for energy efficiency and clean energy policy solutions and technology applications.

“Energy efficiency is the quickest and most cost effective means to lower energy bills and is critical to growing the economy through enhanced reliability of the grid,” said Bailey. “As Commissioner, I saw first-hand the impacts that volatile energy costs and extreme weather had on the energy bills of residential and business customers.  I am excited to join the team at Efficient Power & Light to help everyday Mississippians identify and implement measures and technologies that have positive impacts on energy use and their budgets.”

EPL has recently purchased a new headquarters building and is expanding the facility to house all operations at a single location.  Bailey will jump right in and help EPL grow its current business services and expand into new service offerings across a wide range of energy consumer sectors.
